Solving the Bedside Visual Comfort Paradox
The primary conflict in guestroom bedside lighting is simple yet technically demanding: providing crisp, high-CRI illumination (300–500 lux) onto a guest’s book or tablet without spilling unwanted glare onto a sleeping partner’s side of the bed. Standard decorative wall sconces emit omnidirectional light that floods the entire headboard area, causing visual fatigue and guest complaints.
Remington Lighting solves this challenge through micro-lensed optical assemblies. By pairing deep-recessed LED chips with custom TIR (Total Internal Reflection) collimator lenses, our headboard reading lights restrict beam spread to a controlled 15°–30° spot cone. This ensures that light is strictly contained within the active reading zone, achieving a Unified Glare Rating (UGR) below 13 while maintaining complete darkness for the adjacent occupant.
- Optical Precision:Deep-set 3W–5W CREE/Bridgelux COB LEDs with anti-glare honeycomb louvers.
- Thermal Safety:Integrated die-cast aluminum heat sinks rated for flush mounting into wood, leather, or acoustic paneling.
- Auto-Shutoff:Recessed flip-out models with internal micro-magnetic switches that cut power when stowed flush.
